Specialized Companionship

This is a level of support for specific tasks or for caregiver respite. This can provide one-time or short-term assistance: for a visitor who would benefit from having a non-medical companion; for those who need relief pooling resources and assigning tasks; or assisting with establishing an appointment calendar. This can also include providing companionship during a physical move to a new home; connection with local resources; or establishing new care routines.

End-of-Life Planning and Paperwork

This is a more deliberate support where you can count on two hours a week of focused visits to coordinate some of the necessary processes of getting affairs in order. This could include reviewing advanced care plans (5 Wishes, medical power of attorney paperwork, and others), a life-review activity, delegating tasks, collecting information about local resources, or crafting a vision to manage the end of someone’s life according to their wishes. Not only will I offer this practical support, but also emotional and empathetic support as desired—such as through readings, singing, guided imagery, gentle touch, and silence—as final amends are made.

$800/month

11th Hour Vigil

This is a specialized level of support to arrange or to keep vigil as someone is actively dying. This could take moments, hours, or days. This package includes: six consecutive hours of in-person interactions each of the package days (or nights); and phone, text, or email contact when not present. If family or caregivers are not near or are unavailable, arrangements can be made for EOLDoula colleagues and a rotating vigil team to provide support. This will require “add-on” pricing to be determined on a case-by-case basis. During the 11th hour vigil, previously expressed wishes by the dying person will be carried out. These wishes might include rituals, scents, arrangement of the space, music or other details to be honored. If no knowledge is available of a vigil plan or wishes, a consultation or assessment will quickly be made. Supportive presence will surround the dying person as an additional layer to the medical care team.

Note: EOLDoula support does not replace hospice or other medical care. See disclaimer page.

My service is to sense this tender space, alleviate fears, ease suffering, and offer comfort during this time of transition.

$900/3 Days or $350/Day-to-Day Presence

This is a post-death level of support to help anyone in the circle of support as they process the death and re-visit memories. This may include physical activities such as: addressing cards, calling various services to remove medical equipment, or arranging for disposal of flowers and wreaths. Emotional support may be required as collections of a lifetime are “sorted”, “cleared” and organized. Recommendations for additional grief support, professional counseling, or alternative therapies can be made.
